It’s not the colour of your skin that brings your cosplay to life, it’s your hard work, dedication and love of the character/series.

I’m a bit insulted that you think I don’t take my costumes “seriously” because I don’t go searching for black characters to cosplay so people will lick my asshole for being ~*Real life animay*~. Fuck that shit. I don’t cosplay for anyone except my fucking self.

The characters you cosplay aren’t black? Man I thought you were a GOOD cosplayer.

You sat there while someone said something along those lines to you and didn’t punch them in the throat? Welp, you’re a better person than I.

Otafest 2012 is over.
I’m currently at the dinner with the volunteers and LIX. it’s 2am lol.

Well, here we go:

Friday:

Arrived around 10:00am. None of the other execs save Nathan and Stanley were there so I helped them set up the artist alley for Saturday. Once more execs started showing up I started helping with all the other departments. Mainly reg desk. From what I’ve heard, reg desk has this notorious reputation for opening late and I wanted to help out with that. I took over special admissions with help from Kyle and we started pushing through panelists and VIPs about half an hour before reg desk opened. I was then relieved of that work by Gareth.

Opening ceremonies, apparently I’m a good usher, I was asked to usher the big 3 events (opening, cosplay, closing) this year. Ceremonies were good. Midnight Taiko were awesome, I’m glad I saw them.

Honestly, I don’t even remember what I did for the rest of that day, so let’s move on.

Saturday:

What. A. Shit. Show. Oh my god.
There were multiple medical emergencies that I had to deal with or help out with.

I did ushering for the cosplay competition (which was pretty good and a lot better than last year). I had to kick people out of the building for breaking fire code which is never fun.

There was a drunk trio on the cosplay hill that I had to get kicked off campus while I was spending an hour and a half picking up trash. My god. The amount of shit on that hill was incredible.
There was a group of cosplayers playing red rover and climbing on the sculptures. I didn’t care much for the red rover, but we got to the point where we had to station a policy enforcement with wristband scissors there to keep people off.
By this point, another medical issue. Great.

I did go to Alfred’s forum meet-up and that was pretty cool. Got to meet with some new members that I have never seen before. I think this is the only panel I went to for the entire convention.

Went home feeling like complete shit and collapsed on my bed.

Sunday:

Spent most of the day in the maid cafe and totally fell in love with one of the maids LOL. Overall pretty good day minus having to get rid of a group of potheads asking attendees where they could get chronic -.-

We spent like 3 hours cleaning up and loading the truck hahaha. Right now there are 60 of us, including LIX, at U & Me eating dimsum. I hope I sleep tonight.

POTLUCK TOMORROW!

Wish I could stay in bed today but alas, school needs to get done. Work needs to get done. Otafest needs to get done.

One day I’ll get my lazy bed day.

I have been so tired and grumpy all week that I am worried I will be a party-pooping asshole this weekend. I just want everybody to know that and tell me if I’m being dumb.

I see your party pooping asshole and I raise you one stressed out, tired exec.

God what a shit show.

Binh forwarded me an email yesterday from our web host saying that one of our files on the server was causing high load issues and they have renamed it (essentially disabling the entire forum in the process, the file was the one needed for people to be able to see posts). I call BS, how could a file like that possibly use “49% of the CPU” it’s a friggen web script.

Anyway, so we’re forum-less 4 days away from Otafest, I’ve sent the host an email being all “wtf mate” and am still awaiting a reply.
They have an excellent sense of timing.

Next I get an email from bio prof saying we have an assignment and it’s due by 9am. Alright, that’s great.

Then I get a call from my dad complaining about the way I live, sorry of I get busy once in a while and cant keep the house in pristine spotless shape every day dad. It’s not like you help much around your house so how could you possibly know how much work juggling cleaning, cooking, school, Otafest, and a complaining father entails?
I’m sure it may not actually be a lot to deal with but it’s over my threshold. Have I mentioned that I haven’t been able to sleep more than 6-7 hours for the past 2 years?

I’m expected to have next year’s website up by the end of Sunday. I haven’t had time to start. This is not going to be a fun weekend at all.

I didn’t think it was possible but I actually had nightmares about Otafest last night. There have been so many issues this year in every department I’m really surprised that we managed to even get through them. Like to the degree where I actually wouldn’t have been surprised if Otafest didn’t happen this year, but we keep on truckin’ despite the setbacks and I’m glad that most people are understanding of the situation. I feel like this was a really rough year but hey, it’s almost over.

I’m going to go curl up in my bed now and think about life.

Personally I don’t think anybody under the age of 18 should be having sex.

However, that isn’t my decision to make. What you do with your body is not my decision and if you think you’re mature enough as you are to handle having sex, then fine. I’m going to ask…

I think people should be free to do what they want without arbitrary rules.

Tips For A Better Life
Take a 10-30 minutes walk every day.
Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day.
Sleep for 7 hours.
Live with the 3 E’s — Energy, Enthusiasm, and Empathy.
Play more games.
Read more books than you did the previous year.
Spend time with people over the age of 70 & under the age of 6.
Dream more while you are awake.
Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants.
Drink plenty of water.
Smile and laugh more.
Don’t waste your precious energy or time on gossip.
Forget issues of the past. They’ll just ruin your present happiness.
Don’t have negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.
Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar.
Life is too short to waste time hating anyone, so don’t even try.
Don’t take yourself so seriously.
You don’t have to win every argument. Just agree to disagree.
Make peace with your past so it won’t spoil the present.
Don’t compare your life to others’. You have no idea what their journey is all about. Don’t compare your partner with others either.
What other people think of you is none of your business.
No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.
Get rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful.
Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
Call your family often.
Your inner most is always happy. So be happy.
Each day give something good to others.
Don’t over do. Keep your limits.
Always at the very least, try.

"Mahatma Gandhi, as you know, walked barefoot most of the time,
which produced an impressive set of calluses on his feet.
He also ate very little, which made him rather frail
and with his odd diet, he suffered from bad breath. This made him ..(Oh, man, this is so bad, it’s good)….. A super calloused fragile mystic hexed by halitosis."
